She may have the most appalling fashion sense of any pop star in the charts but Lady Gaga certainly knows how to sell records, with or without the fireworks  in the bra. This week she joined a very elite club indeed. With her new single “Love Game” hitting the top of the Billboard charts she becomes just the third artist in the chart’s history to have their first three singles hit the top spot (the other two being Avril Lavignie and long defunct Swedish pop band Ace of Base)

On the other side of the pond she is having just as much success. Her third British single “Paparazzi” looks like it may top the charts this week for her third UK number one as well.

The 23 year old singing sensation is becoming just as well known for her crazy outfits and unusual opinions as she is her music though. In the last few weeks alone she has sported an exploding bra which stole the show at Britain’s famous Glastonbury festival, a coat made of disembodied Kermit the Frog dolls during an interview with German TV and went out on the town a few weeks ago with just a couple of strategically placed pieces of black masking tape to preserve her “dignity.”

In fact it seems like even though Lady GaGa (whose real name is Stephanie Joanne Angelica Germanotta) dances around half naked and admits to being bisexual she has even caught the eye of the ultra conservatives in the Republican Party. Last week Republican Rep Dave Reichert unveiled a video parody of her first hit “Just Dance” renamed “Just Tax” and the Obama bashing piece became a You Tube hit in days.

However, despite her huge successes over the recent months Lady G says she is still broke! She claims she puts every penny she earns back into her elaborate stage shows and costumes and only now is she beginning to “get to a point where I’m not in bankruptcy.” She went on to say that with another tour coming up she would still not be surprised to find “myself homeless again in six months.”

She has gained some famous friends that she could perhaps turn to should that happen though. She says she is enjoying “a death romance” with Marilyn Manson and has become big buddies and will be performing with Kayne West, another singer not exactly known for their shy or retiring ways.
