Gabapentin has other uses as well. Anti-seizure and peripheral neuropathy as well. Many drugs have off-label uses.

I have been taking Gabapentin for over 6 years now. My doctor prescribed it for an anxiety disorder and told me it has helped reduce anxiety attacks-that it balances the mood swings. At first I was offended after reading it is prescribed for persons with bi-polar disorder but he assured me it can be used for my problem. I would awake at night after sleeping for a few minutes in a panic. I got so I was afraid to fall asleep. This drug definitely helps you sleep and it is not like a tranquilizer. After about a month after starting I noticed no side effects. My doctor assured me also that it is not habit forming. IT WORKS WONDERS FOR HELPING YOU SLEEP!!!

The medical reports are wrong about this subjuct!! I’ve been on Gabapentin for a couple of years, though not for seizures, and I am menopaulal. This drug DOES NOT improve sleep quality! Its actually the other way around. Don’t beieve what they are telling you!!

Alternatively, there is a nutritional supplement called GABA that contains just natural GABA and is not as harsh as Gabapentin.
